DIMITROV AND KECMANOVIC TRY THEIR HAND AT KUNG FU IN CHENGDU

Tennis superstars and Chengdu Open marquee players Grigor Dimitrov and Miomir Kecmanovic were treated to a unique taste of Chinese martial arts culture at the Feng Qing Lake located nearby the Sichuan International Tennis Centre.

The third and seventh seeds of the tournament enjoyed spectating a variety of demonstrations by kung fu masters depicting the various styles of Chinese kung fu, before learning some of the most iconic kung fu stances and testing their wrist strength in a training exercise.

“I’m a big fan of kung fu but I don’t think I did very well today! I think it’s an amazing art and I’m such a huge Jackie Chan fan, so it was nice to experience that a little and hopefully one day I will have the chance to explore more of it. Doing the standing poses was really fun!” said Dimitrov.

“I never got to try kung fu before and I see now that it’s actually very difficult and not as easy as they make it look! I really enjoyed my time. My favourite was when we tried replicating the poses they showed us – it was quite fun and I hope I get the chance to do more of that,” said Kecmanovic.

The tournament is owned by IMG and is organised by the Chinese Tennis Association and Chengdu Municipal Government, is co-organised by Chengdu Sports Bureau, Shuangliu District Government and Chengdu Culture Tourism Group, and is promoted by Sichuan Investment International Tennis Centre Development Co., Ltd., CCTV IMG (Beijing) Sports Management Co.
